Notes from real builds, with the numbers left in.

Articles on AI coding tools, self-hosting, web development and the apps I use every day. When a post quotes a price, a benchmark or a version number, it's the one I checked while writing it.

About the writing

What I write about, and why

Most posts start as a problem I hit on client work or my own projects that week.

  • 01

    AI coding tools

Claude Code setups, permission modes and plugins, plus the security side, like the npm hack that hunts AI tool keys.

    Self-hosting

VPS pricing, Docker, Coolify and object storage, with 2026 prices instead of the numbers older guides quote.

    Web development

JavaScript, .NET and front-end choices, like when HTMX beats React and what RFC 10008 changes for APIs.

FAQ

About the writing

What the posts cover and how they differ from the devlogs.

What do you write about?

Building web apps with Laravel, Next.js and Node, the editors and tools I use every day, AI in day-to-day coding, design systems, and running software on my own servers.

How is the blog different from the devlogs?

A post is about one topic and reads on its own. A devlog entry is a day of work on one build, and the entries for a build read in order, bugs included.

Can I suggest a topic or ask about a post?

Yes. Email safi.abdulkader@gmail.com or use the contact page.

Work with me

Got a product in your head? Let's put it on a screen.

Tell me what you're building, who it's for and when it has to be live. I'll reply with questions first, then a fixed quote.
